Xeptagon is excited to announce being contracted to deploy the National Carbon Registry of UNDP for Namibia. The deployment will further enable and enhance Namibian entities to actively participate in carbon trading and climate markets.

The deployment in Namibia will be for the latest National Carbon Registry developed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Xeptagon is also honoured to be a part of the development team of this national carbon registry. Members of the Xeptagons development team are contracted for the software development of the carbon registry where we are a core-technology contributor.

The carbon registry is also accredited as a Digital Public Good. The development initiative is also supported by a working group, which includes UNDP, the World Bank, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) among others.

The deployment in Namibia was done along with COP28, the 28th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The COP28 is the premier global event that takes necessary actions to fight climate change at an international level. The deployment was also supported by the government of Japan.

During the deployment, Xeptagon has customized the UNDP Carbon Registry to suit the local requirements of Namibia. For example, supported methodologies were updated in addition to the localization of the registry. The carbon registry has many advanced features including full lifecycle support of carbon credits, multi-organization login for developers and certifiers as well as blockchain integration for transaction immutability among other features.
